Crafted using three types of hops - Cascade, Pilot and Crystal - each chosen for their zesty, vibrant, and aromatic character famous of Sharp’s ales; and meticulously distilled in Tressa, one of Tarquin’s flame-fired copper pot stills. 

Tasting notes:
Crisp piney juniper on the nose, dry with a zesty citrus taste from the hops balanced with savoury herbs. A juniper forward finish with a touch of candied grapefruit.

Pairs perfectly with:
Fever-tree Mediterranean tonic garnished with a fresh apple slice & sprig of rosemary.

🍸 35ml Tarquin's 'The Hopster' Gin
🍋 25ml lemon juice
✨ 15ml Sugar Syrup
🍺 200ml Sharps Brewery Doom Bar
🍋 Lemon twist garnish

Add the Hopster Gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker, top with ice and shake hard for six seconds. Pour into a tall glass over ice and top up with Doom Bar. Finally, garnish with a twist of lemon.

Our Process

As a fully-independent, family-run business, we at Southwestern Distillery like to celebrate the fact that we do things a little bit differently.

We champion the most traditional techniques alongside progressively modern approaches in all we do. Established back in 2012, we are underpinned by an ethos of creative expression and innovation, all our gins celebrate of our Cornish heritage and our desire to share our craft. 

Each of our gins is created with hand-selected botanicals, both local and from across the globe, using the freshest ingredients we can find.

The beating hearts of our distillery are Tarquin’s 250 litre, flame-fired copper pot stills. The newest addition to the team is Ferarra - a state of the art, one-of-a-kind 500 litre copper still. Tarquin finely tunes and orchestrates the unique personalities of each still to create his internationally award-winning spirits.

Post distillation, we proudly ensure that every award-winning bottle that leaves our distillery has been lovingly filled, waxed and stamped by hand for you to enjoy.
