Bringing a little bit of Cornish sunshine to every glass with our celebration of the great British strawberry. our flagship Tarquin's Cornish gin is first distilled in small batches, with the addition of extra fresh lime zest, then post distillation we lovingly infuse with the sweetest strawberries in season.

Tasting notes:
Wild strawberry, fresh juniper and cracked black pepper on the nose. Zesty lime, sweet orange blossom, and warm spice on the palate. With a finish of tart strawberry jam, candied marmalade, and soft pine.

Pairs perfectly with:
An elderflower tonic and a slice of lime.

Tasting Notes

Tarquin's creations are always perfectly balanced and juniper led. Inspired by our home on the Wild Cornish Coast, each of our gins celebrates local flavour, ingredients and environment.

Nose

Crisp, fragrant juniper still prominent as the backbone of the gin, with notes of zesty lime, orange blossom and warm spice.

Taste

Initial hit of wild strawberry, fresh juniper and a hint of cracked black pepper

Candied strawberry jam and sweet marmalade. Retains a lovely dryness to the finish

Our Process

As a fully-independent, family-run business, we at Southwestern Distillery like to celebrate the fact that we do things a little bit differently.

To create our Tarquin’s Strawberry and Lime Gin we first start the process of distilling our flagship Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin. We macerate 11 hand-selected botanicals overnight before adding violets in the morning and firing up the stills. We collect only the purest ‘heart of the distillation’, collecting and setting aside the ‘heads’ and ‘tails’ cuts (the first and last parts of the distillation) that don’t make the most selective taste and texture grade. Post distillation, this ‘hearts cut’ (around 76% abv neat Gin) is lovingly infused with fresh pressed strawberries and cut the gin with de-mineralized Cornish spring water to bring it down to the desired 38% abv.
Finally, just before bottling a touch of fresh lime zest is added for a little sharpness which balances beautifully with the natural sweetness of the strawberries. Every single bottle is then individually hand-filled, labelled with individual batch tasting notes, hand-dipped into a slow-cooker filled with paraffin wax and hand-stamped with our Puffin logo. We truly believe in the value of maximising the human-touch at every stage of the process. When Tarquin puts “Handcrafted in Cornwall” on every bottle, he really does mean it.
